Blog Post #17: My Top Three Magazines!

Welcome back everyone!

Today I'll be revealing the top three magazines that'll best reflect my original magazine. Also, I'm going to do an analysis of the designs, content, layout, demographics & production of the three magazines.

'ESSENCE'

First up is 'Essence' & I picked this magazine because it sheds light upon African American women & their accomplishments. First published in 1970, 'Essence' is a lifestyle magazine that was demographically made for African American women. It covers everything about fashion, beauty, entertainment & culture! Over the years, it went from monthly publishing to six issues a year.  Rapper & entertainer Megan Pete, 'Megan Thee Stallion' is featured on this cover above. Take Megan for instance, she recently became a college graduate & all of this was achieved while chasing her dreams; that's what I admire about this magazine, it showcases successful African American women so that others can be inspired.

'Vogue'

This VOGUE cover debuted in the 90's with fashion model, Cindy Crawford. This cover is displaying a classy, upbeat aesthetic. What I also admire is the accents of pink & the didot font. VOGUE is a monthly fashion & lifestyle magazine that was founded in 1892 by Arthur Baldwin Turnure. According to demographics, the target audience for this particular magazine is early 20's - early 60's. At the time, it appealed to New York City's social elites & now it has reached many people all around the world.

'Teen Vogue'

'Teen VOGUE' is an American fashion magazine that is made for teenage girls. Launched in 2003, this magazine consists of fashion, beauty & health, celebrity features & more. On the cover above, Fernanda ly -who's a model- is featured. 'Teen VOGUE' is thought of as the sister magazine to 'VOGUE' & it has expanded its focus over the years to politics & current affairs today. What's so great about this magazine is that, the content is filtered for teens & the current trends. Teens are impressionable & if there are positive examples in the world that they can follow, then be sure to check out 'Teen VOGUE'.

That's all for today, thank you for tuning in once again!
