Blog Post #33: Fashion Photography Inspiration (PT.1)

Image
Hi! Welcome back to my blog. In today's blog I'll be sharing my fashion inspiration for 'Girly Co.' This magazine will include streetwear, preppy, Y2K, monochromatic fashion etc. & I hope to channel all of those into my magazine perfectly.                      *All photos are provided by Pinterest & edited on Canva.*  Streetwear Over the past few years, streetwear has grown to be a go-to style for society. It's a casual, unisex style that allows for not only men but, women to express themselves through fashion. You can wear a fitted baseball cap, baggy-jeans, sneakers & an oversized t-shirt & still be feminine. What I like about streetwear is that it breaks the social norms of how society thinks women should dress.  Y2K Y2K is an acronym for "the year 2000." It's a fashion trend that covers the late 90's & early/mid 2000s style. With Y2K it includes vibrant colors, fur, velour tracksuits, prints ( animal etc.) I feel as if this

Blog Post #32: Sketching Girly Co. PT.2 ( Table of Contents Edition.)

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to the second part of sketching 'Girly Co.' & today I'll be sharing the layout of my table of contents.  *Drumrollll* As can be seen, it still has that  modern, contemporary feeling that I mentioned which is what I was going for because, it gives the magazine a sophisticated touch. What's also included is the template from magazine #2 & I used this because of the fun look that it gave. The alteration that were made was the color scheme. It was changed to a pastel pink because it's the signature color for my magazine. And the 'Libre Baskerville' font from magazine #3 was implemented because, it reminded me of 'VOGUE'. Overall, the mixture of the three elements compliment each other very well. Table of contents breakdown: I'm very proud of the results & this was achieved by incorporating different elements from the three table of contents that I showed in my previous blog. Thank you & see you soon! Source: https

Blog Post #31: Table of Contents Inspiration!

Image
Hi there! Today I'm going to be analyzing the three table of content templates that attracted me the most. I'll add certain details from them & use it in my table of contents. Table of contents #1:  I admire how modern & contemporary it is & the layout/setup of the page because it's simple but still captures the attention of the viewers.  Table of contents #2:  This table of contents will be implemented in my magazine because of the vibrant colors. It has a bubbly effect that I'm attracted to. Table of contents #3:  I'm gravitated to this table of contents because it has a 'VOGUE' aesthetic that I like appreciate very much. 'VOGUE' is one of the magazines that inspires my magazine so I'll incorporate this element. See you in the next blog where I'll be showing my final table of contents template! Blog Post #30: Sketching Girly Co. (Cover Page Edition).

Image
And we're back!  Welcome guys, today I'll be showing the layout & final template decision for my cover page. As you can see, I went with 'magazine #3' & this is because of how simple & classy it is. This cover will allow the viewers to focus on the photography whilst, casting attention onto the layout. However, I still tried to incorporate certain elements from the other two magazine templates. I decided to combine colors to add a pop & to give my cover page a sophisticated/fun look. Also, in a previous blog, I mentioned that I wanted a group of models however, it was decided to use only two models. The idea is to have the models with half of their face shown with sunglasses for a glam/power effect.  Overall, I'm confident in my decision for this magazine & will use all these ideas to bring my vision to life.                       Thanks for viewing & I'll see you soon.

Blog Post #29: Cover Page Inspiration!

Image
Welcome back guys! In this blog, I'll be showing my cover page inspirations & picking the template that I like the most. *Special thank you to Canva for the fashion magazine templates.* Magazine #1: With this magazine cover, I like the combination of pink/burgundy & how they compliment each other. It's fun, bubbly but still has that certain sophistication that caught my attention.   Magazine #2: Next up, is this vibrant magazine & what gravitates me the most is the pop of colors. I also like the cleverness of the subheadline. It's always great to curate eye-catching captions because it peaks the interest of the viewers. Magazine #3: I admire the sleekness of this template. It's clean, classy & just has that "IT" factor which I like. What's so different about this cover page is the unique aesthetic. With the other two templates above, they have pops of color & are flamboyant. But this is simple & it still finds a way to catch the ey

Blog Post #28: Magazine Masthead Reveal!

Image
Hey there! In this blog, I'll be showing my official masthead for 'Girly Co.'   I decided to take my time & perfect the masthead for my magazine. My peers weren't involved in the decision for the title due to the fact that, I knew what I was going for & this is what I envisioned for 'Girly Co.' It's sassy with a touch of posh also, the color scheme combination of hot pink with the 'Colo Pro' font & the light pink 'Nickainley' font compliments each other very well. As mentioned in my older blog post, the masthead is important because it represents the magazine as a whole.  Thanks for tuning in, see you next time!

Blog Post #27: Magazine Decisions! (Suggestions From Peers).

Image
Welcome back guys!  In today's blog, I'll be revealing some of the official decisions from my peer based survey! Front cover: A group of black women (16-30+)  Explanation: Though this was a runner-up choice, I felt as if showing a group of black women is portraying a united front & I was gravitated to this choice more. Camera shot: Full body shot Explanation: This was the #1 choice from my peers & I agree with this decision because a full body shot captures everything within the image. Magazine articles: "The Trending 411?" "Fashion Do's & Don'ts" "50 Shades of Melanin" "Slim/Plus" "Seasonal Style" Explanation: I'm excited to go in depth about these fashion segments because it talks about the current state of fashion while giving advice & being inclusive for every African American woman. Text: A mixture of formal & informal  Explanation: What's so great about that choice is that, it allows fo

Blog Post #26: Survey Review

Image
Hey everyone!  In this blog, I'll be sharing the results from my magazine survey.  I created this survey last week for my peers & received 20 responses. It was great to see the different opinions form because, it allowed for me to get a wide, broad view of what people would like see in a fashion magazine. The cover is the most important feature of a magazine & this is because it's the first thing that you see whether it's in a convenience store or a shopping mall, it gravitates the viewers.  In result: 70% (14 people) voted for "A female adult model & teen model (1 of each)." 25% (5 people) voted for "A group of black women (16-30+)." 5 % (1 person) Cartoon image of a black fashion model Another important magazine feature besides the cover is the camera shot. When the cover & camera shot angle come together, it compliments the magazine altogether. In this survey, I asked my peers what kind of camera shot would correlate with the cover of
