Blog Post #52: Double Page Spread Story!

In my previous blog, I shared my exclusive interview with my subject & today, I'll be revealing my double page spread story.

Meet Shacorea Balfour mother, entrepreneur, and fashion enthusiast. The "mompreneur" is a successful photographer that defines fashion as a way to be versatile.'I want to show how women can break social norms when it pertains to wardrobe. I want to communicate that just because I am a mom doesn't mean that I can not "put it on."' Balfour says. Because she has creative ways to incorporate style, Balfour has managed to build a social media presence which, showcases how she styles on a daily. The meaning behind"Fly Mom" advocates for, being a mother whilst looking fly in the process.

As a mom & business owner, Balfour is quite the busy woman. With photoshoots & tending to her children, she has to find ways to make her wardrobe convenient. Her on the go outfit would have to be a graphic shirt with leggings paired with a crossbody bag. She mentions 'As long as you know how to accessorize then you're set.'With fashion, trends come & go but what does not go out of style, is wearing hats. At the moment, she's currently collecting baseball caps & often implements them into her wardrobe. Also a firm believer in both color coordinating & mixtures, Balfour likes to take risks & do what others are afraid to do. She states,'You can never go wrong with monochromatic looks & mixing vibrant colors as long as you know how to make it work.' 

 From when she was a little girl, Balfour was always inclined to fashion. Her mother would dress her up regularly & this would eventually carry on into her adulthood. And when asked about how she would describe her style, Balfour stated,'I would describe it as different. It's what makes Shacorea... Shacorea. My style has always been a reflection of my personality & who I am.' In addition, her wardrobe depends on what her schedule entails, if she has to go out & complete errands then the 'outfit of the day' might include a sweatsuit paired with comfortable sneakers. Or if Balfour has a brunch event, she would style a pantsuit with heels or even show versatility & implement a pair of sneakers. And what these two wardrobe choices have in common is that, there's always room for accessorizing. When involving accessories, the "Fly Mom" gravitates towards layered necklaces, handbags & she will even add a few rings to the equation. However, this is not always the case. She believes that accessories are not big necessities, & sometimes the outfit can speak for itself. A fun fact, Balfour's celebrity inspiration is Teyana Taylor. 'The way she orchestrates her outfits whether it's red carpet appearances or on the go, she always finds a way to perfectly put her items together.' she states. The topic of fashion has came a long way. Decades ago, women were not allowed to wear certain items of clothing & now in today's society, they're able to show that there are different ways to be feminine.

I had the honor of interviewing Shacorea Balfour & I learned many things through this interview.
