Blog Post #53: Cover & Double-Page Photo Reveal!

 Welcome back! 

Today I'll be revealing the photographs that'll be used for my magazine. These photos were taken at the Selfie Museum & on an Iphone 13 pro max. Since my subject is a professional photographer, she guided me throughout the process & taught me about angles & lighting. As you'll see, there were two different backgrounds being implemented during this photoshoot. I enjoyed the process & learned many things about photography.

As shown, this photograph was taken in a blue monochromatic location which was meant to coordinate with my subjects wardrobe. She's wearing a Bape streetwear outfit which is a popular fashion name brand. Also, Balfour is shot in a low, far side angle position & this is to create a power look. 

With this image, the idea was to use a contrast background to give the photo a fun aesthetic. The photo positioning has a hint of mid & low angle. Also, in Balfour's graphic tee, it has a hint of yellow detailing so it still has familiarity with the background set up.

This is for my AICE Media studies Cambridge AS level course.  Compulsory question 1 asks 'How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issue?' My magazine follows the basic conventional Rules and Guidelines of a standard magazine, amongst other things it includes a masthead, a tagline, a coverline, a cover image, a barcode, an issue number and date. In order to gain inspiration for my magazine, I followed the example of various fashion magazines that inspired me such as Vogue, Teen Vogue & Essence.       For the cover page conventions, the first thing you notice is the masthead, the masthead is the title of the magazine & it is also in the biggest font with the sole purpose of standing out. And we're back! Hey guys, today I'll be researching about the history of magazines. Whether it's a tattoo magazine, fashion magazine, rap magazine or even a cooking magazine, it'll always appeal to a specific audience. With that being said, I decided to base my magazine off of fashion magazines. Fashion has been around for centuries & has been innovative throughout history. In 1867, Harper's Bazaar became the first fashion magazine to debut & it included everything from casual to couture. This paved the way for other successful establishments such as 'Vogue', 'Essence', 'Elle' & many more. These magazines are important due to its contribution to the fashion industry. It keeps society up to date with the current trends that are occurring in the world & helps people to decide what style suits them best. What's so amazing about fashion is that, it never goes out of style because it's what you make it.
